TOPIC: Email registrant options

We ask our registrants to input an email for all group members, but it is optional, so we have to use another field besides the standard email field. Can we use this alternate email field when email registrants as well as the standard email field so we are able to email as many as possible?

And can or does the email registrants function check for duplicates?
