Quick update for those experiencing similar issues...
We were running a CloudProxy firewall. Turning that off seems to have helped reduce the frequency of issues. Although it's not ideal to turn it off, the proxy is overkill in our case and I'm fine with that.
However, we're still having some issues. A user reported this morning that the registration process keeps freezing when he tries to advance past the screen that asks him to confirm his data. We get no payment or registration from him. I'm not sure of his OS/browser yet.

I should have added that I opened a ticket yesterday and Nathan started working with us on the problem. No solution yet, but he's aware of the issue and is involved.
