Picture in Confirmation e-mail

Postby genebeed » Aug 26, 2012 9:29 pm

I have just about given up trying to add an image into a custom confirmation e-mail. TinyMCE does not seem to do anything when I try to add an image, so I tried two other editors JoomlaCK and JCE. Both will add an image, but it will not display in the sent e-mail. When i add a [BARCODE] to the e-mail, it displays fine, as long as I allow my e-mail client to download pics.

ANy ideas on what I am doing wrong?

Joomla text editors by default will "clean up" your HTML... and will make any file references "relative" urls... meaning they will drop your domain name from the url. So, on your site, it's fine. In an email, it will never display. In a good editor, like JCE, you have a parameter where you can disable relative URLs. That will fix the issue.

You can do what I do (if you use JCE), just go into the code editor and put your full site url in front of the path to the image. So if the code displays say, "/images/events/myimage.jpg" change it to "http://yoursiteurl.com/images/events/myimage.jpg"

If you're comfortable with code this is a bit easier to deal with than turning off relative urls for your editor.

Thanks -- both techniques worked (though if you toggle away from the source code view with JCE, it immediately converts it back to a relative URL -- the source code addition must be the LAST thing I do before I close it).

Now though -- the barcode image is broken in the confirmation e-mail!

Still, an improvement.

Here is proper technique I found on JCE site:

1. In Editor Profiles check the "Default" profile.
2. Click the Copy button to create a copy of the profile.
3. Click on the new profile name to edit it (Copy of Default)
4. Set the new profile name, set Enabled to Yes and set Ordering to "0 Order First"
5. In the "Components" field, check "Select from List" and check the e-mail extension (DT Register in this case).
6. Click on Editor Parameters and set the "Relative URLs" option to "No".
7. Save

Should only override DT Register component.
