DTH Development FAQs

Frequently asked questions regarding our Joomla Extensions.

  • General DTH FAQ

Following are some Q & A's for General items and topics related to DTH Development and our extensions.  If these do not answer your questions, please visit our forums or send us an email through this site.

Q:  What versions of Joomla are supported by your extensions?
A:  DT Register and DT Donate work in 1.5/1.6/1.7/2.5/3.0. All of our extensions work in Joomla 1.5 native except for DT Billing, which is only for Joomla 1.0.

Q:  Do I have to purchase again to get new update releases?
A:  Not while your license is active.  With our regular licenses, you get ONE YEAR of free updates and downloads of the extensions you purchase.  Our developer licenses give you 2 years of free updates.  At the end of your one or two years, you can still use the extensions, you just will not be able to download updates at that time without purchasing a new license.

Q:  What is the difference between the Standard and Developer Licenses?
A:  Our components are licensed under the GPL. With that, there is not an actual coded restriction for installing the components on only one site. However, we  will only support the component on one site with our standard licenses. You also get  free updates for one year. With the developer license, you have our full support on as many sites as you want to use the component on. You also get 2 years of updates instead of the regular one year.

Q:  If I decide I don't want to use the component, can I get a refund?
A:  As these extensions are digital products, you can not return them so we do not issue refunds.  Please read through the details available on this site and our forum to see how the components do and do not work.  We can also provide you with a demo login if you would like to see the backend of the components.  If you have any question or uncertainty of if the component will accomplish your need... ASK.  Ask BEFORE you purchase.  If you have an actual problem with the component not functioning correctly on your site, we will fix it in a timely manner.  IF (by an extremely slim chance) we are unable to do so within 30 days of all necessary information being provided, we will issue a refund.

Q:  I need help.  What is the best way to get assistance?
A:  The best method of support is to create a support ticket.  Posting in the forum or sending an email will get responded to as quickly as possible, but tickets come first.  They are also easier to keep track of so we can keep a better handle on your situation and details through a ticket.

Q:  Do you guys do website design and development as well?
A:  Yes! We build custom Joomla websites all the time.  We do not do stock template sites, but will custom design the graphics and templates for your site to make it just the way you want and need it to be.  If you're interested, let us know and we'll send you more details and examples of some of the fabulous sites we've developed!

  • DT Menu FAQ

Following are some Q & A's that will answer many of your DT Menu questions.  If these do not answer your questions, please visit our forums.

Q:  Does DT Menu work with Joomla 1.5?
A:  YES!  It does not require Legacy mode and will work in the native 1.5.x version of Joomla.  DT Menu does NOT have a version for Joomla 1.0.

Q:  Can I have multiple menus with DT Menu?
A:  YES! There is no limitation as many other solutions have. You can create as many menus as needed.

Q:  Does DT Menu us the CSS styling from my template?
A:  No. DT Menu removes the need for fighting with CSS to make your menus look and function the way you want. You can simply choose the colors, images, borders, etc and DT Menu does the rest.  No more CSS hassles!!

Q:  Does DT Menu support an active menu item state?
A:  YES!  This is one of the many things that sets DT Menu above other solutions. You have 3 states for each menu item... normal, hover, and active. The active state is a separate styling that shows the user what page they are presently on.

Q:  What is required to run DT Menu?
A:  You need to be running on PHP5. The older PHP4 will not work.

Q:  My submenu is not displaying on the frontend of my site. How can I fix this?
A:  Well, this is almost always a template problem. First, check the index.php file for your template. The <div> that contains the module position you are using for your menu should have a position:relative included. So it should look something like this:

    <div id="menu" style="position:relative;z-index:999">

You see there is also a z-index setting above. This is not always needed, but may be if your submenu is being covered up by something else on the page.  If you are still having an issue, then you are most likely one of those people that thought it was a good idea to use Artisteer to make your template. Seems to good to be true? It is :)  While you may get your design up and running in Joomla with that template, it is not a well-built template.  In addition to making the above change (as it will NOT be in your "art" template already), you will need to go to the template.css file for the template. Locate the class name of the div that contains your menu.  It is probably something like this ".art-contentLayout .art-sidebar1". You should see a setting like "overflow: hidden;".  Completely remove that line. This is causing your submenu to not be allowed beyond the edge of that module area.

  • DT Register FAQ

Following are some Q & A's that will answer many of your DT Register questions.  If these do not answer your questions, please visit our forums:

Q:  What versions of Joomla are supported for DT Register?
A:  DT Register works with all current versions of Joomla from 1.0 all the way through the current 3.x and everything in between!  While we do still have a version available for Joomla 1.0 which is 2.4.6, it is no longer supported. Support for Joomla 1.5 versions ends on Nov. 1, 2013.

Q:  Does DT Register work with any gateway processors other than Authorize.net?
A:  Yes!  You have the option of using Authorize.net, PayPal (Standard), PayPal Pro (Website Payments Pro), Google Checkout, Sage (N. America), USA ePay, TransFirst, eWay, Saferpay, iDeal, Quickbooks Merchant Services (QBMS), PayFast (S. Africa), Korta (Europe), Moneris (Canada), NetDeposit, Pay Later, Offline Manual Credit Card or all of the above.  Our "Pay Later" option is for offlines payments of various types, but the offline credit card payment allows you to collect credit card info, encrypt it for security, but then process it manually offline. With Authorize.net, you can also use ECheck if your auth.net account has this feature enabled.  Your payment options are setup globally, but you can also specify different payment options per event if desired. This means you could use PayPal account A for one event, and then use PayPal account B for another event... for example.

Q:  Does DT Register integrate with Community Builder?
A:  YES!  You can select if you want to use the integration or not.  If you do, then registration forms will auto-populate with user's CB profile info when they are logged in.  Any DT Reg field can be syned with any CB field. The form will also (optionally) have an added checkbox for users to mark IF they want to save their payment details for future use. DT Register works with all current versions of CB.

Q:  Does DT Register integrate with JomSocial?
A:  YES!  DT Reg works with JomSocial 1.8 / 2.0 or later. If you do, then registration forms will auto-populate with user's profile info when they are logged in.  Any DT Reg field can be synced with any JS field. We also have two plugins that will show registration history in the JomSocial profile and also activity in the live activity feed.

Q: Does DT Register support recurring or repeating events?
A: YES! As of version 2.7.0, you can create repeating events when you choose to NOT sync with JEvents.

Q:  Can I organize my events in categories?
A:  Yes, you can create categories and then assign your events to a category. On the frontend, the events are listed according to category and there is also a filter to show only the events of a selected category.  In the backend, you can re-order how your categories display. You can have two levels of categories.

    Q: Are multi-language sites supported?
A:  YES! In Joomla 1.5, DT Register inegrates with Joom!Fish to support multi-language translations. In Joomla 2.5 and later, DT Register integrates with Falang, which is a 2.5/3.x fork of Joom!Fish. Content elements files needed for both extensions are included in the DT Register package.

Q: Can users cancel or edit their registrations later?
A:  YES as of version 2.6 of DT Register. There is a frontend panel where users can view their history, then edit/cancel records based on settings by the admin. They can also make additional payments. Refunds can optionally be calculated as well.

Q: Can I setup events that are only available to registered users of my site?
A:  Yes! You can designate an event as either public or private. All users will see the events in the list, but if the event is private, only logged in users will be able to access the registration form.  A customizable message is shown to public users to notify them of the private status of the event.

Q:  Can I setup a maximum capacity of registrants for my events?
A:  Yes!  For each event, you will have the option of establishing a capacity for the event.  The frontend events list will show the capacity and current number registered for each event.  If an event is full, the user will be taken to a page that gives them the option of adding themselves to a Waiting List in case space opens up in the event. You can also disable the waiting list and just send a user to a simple message telling them the event is full.

Q:  Can I setup multiple pay options for one event?
A:  Yes!  You can add "fee fields" which allow the user to alter the registration cost based upon the selections they make in your custom fields.  Fee adjustments can be made to dropdowns, checkboxes and radio buttons.  You can set a field option to change the registration cost positive, negative or none. This is part of what makes DT Register the most customizable event registration solution for Joomla!

Q: Do I have to have a SSL certificate to take online payments?
A:  No, but it highly recommended.  Some merchant providers will require your site be secure to take online transactions, some will not.  Really, it's a no-brainer... you SHOULD get a SSL.  There is no reason to take chances and go without.  Besides, most users of at your website will not donate if they see your site is not secure.  However, if you do not have SSL, you can setup DT Register to only use PayPal.  Then, your users will pay through PayPal's SSL.

Q: What other components do I need to use DT Register?
A: NONE! You have the OPTION of syncing with the JEvents calendar, but it is not required.

Q: Can I setup DT Register to automatically process late registration fees and early bird discounts?
A: Yes!  In the setup of each registration event, you can provide a date and a late fee to be added after that date. You can also specify a discount and date to be applied for an early registration promotion.

Q: Can other users see who is already registered for my events?
A: Yes! You can customize and enable your attendees list and choose which events you want to show this data. It can also be set to private and also link to CB profiles!

Q: Will DT Register allow me to set different registration rates for individuals and groups?
A:  Yes! You can have an individual rate and then a group rate that is calculated one of two ways: either a flat rate for a set number of registrants or a discounted individual rate after a set number of people join a group.  When someone goes to register for your event, the first thing they will be asked is if they're registering as an individual or as part of a group. You can also set a limit on how many people can register in a group.

Q: Can I setup an event for registration that is FREE?
A:  YES you can!  Simply enter $0 as the registration fee and all payment options are bypassed in the registration process. You can also customize the form fields differently for free events as compared to the paid events.

Q: Can I customize emails to be sent to registrants automatically?
A:  Yes!  You can have one default email or specify unique emails for each event. These emails can pull in data from the registration such as name, contact info, amount paid, payment method, etc. There are also customizable emails that are sent when the user modifies / cancels their registrations, or when the admin modifies the status of a record.

Q:  Can I export my registration records from DT Register?
A:  Yes!  All registration records are viewable in the backend.  You can also export them into a CSV file where customize which event(s) then which fields and info to include in your customized export file.

Q: What does the registrant receive after registering?
A: After registering for your event, the registrant will receive a "Thank You" email from you that you can edit in the settings of the component.  They also will receive an email receipt of the credit card transaction.

Q:  Does DT Register work with SEF URLs?
A:  Yes and No. DT Register will work fine with the core Joomla SEF, but some users have experienced issues with other 3rd party SEF extensions like sh404SEF and Artio JoomSEF. We are working on plugins for these components. For now, if you have a problem, you would need to "Skip" DT Register in the settings of your SEF component.

Q: What system requirements do I need for DT Register?
A: You should be running PHP 5.2.x or later. From there you should be fine.
