DT Register FAQ Print E-mail

Following are some Q & A's that will answer many of your DT Register questions.  If these do not answer your questions, please visit our forums. This FAQ is based on Version 2.3.3:

Q:  Does DT Register work with any gateway processors other than Authorize.net?
A:  Yes!  You have the option of using Auth.net, PayPal or BOTH.  With Authorize.net, you can also use Automated Recurring Billing (ARB) and/or ECheck if your auth.net account has these features enabled.

Q:  Does DT Register integrate with Community Builder?
A:  YES!  You can select if you want to use the integration or not.  If you do, then registration forms will auto-populate with user's CB profile info when they are logged in.  The form will also have an added checkbox for users to mark IF they want to save their payment details for future use. DT Register does this integration with CB 1.1 currently.  CB 1.2 is not yet fully supported, although DT Register will still work along with it.

Q:  Can I use DT Register with Joomla 1.5?
A:  Yes, but only in Legacy Mode.  We will be releasing a 1.5 native version very soon!

Q:  Can I organize my events in categories?
A:  Yes, you can create categories and then assign your events to a category. On the frontend, the events are listed according to category and there is also a filter to show only the events of a selected category.  In the backend, you can re-order how your categories display.

Q:  Can I setup a maximum capacity of registrants for my events?
A:  Yes!  For each event, you will have the option of establishing a capacity for the event.  The frontend events list will show the capacity and current number registered for each event.  If an event is full, the user will be taken to a page that gives them the option of adding themselves to a Waiting List in case space opens up in the event. You can also disable the waiting list and just send a user to a simple message telling them the event is full.

Q:  Does DT Register support OFFLINE registrations and payments?
A:  Yes!  You can do this two ways.  One, you can use the Pay Later feature for online registration so the user can get registered but mark that they will mail in payment, call in, or pay at the door.  Also, you can manually enter registrations in the backend for those paper registrations that come in the mail!

Q:  Can I setup multiple pay options for one event?
A:  Yes!  You can add "fee fields" which allow the user to alter the registration cost based upon the selections they make in your custom fields.  Fee adjustments can be made to dropdowns, checkboxes and radio buttons.  You can set a field option to change the registration cost positive, negative or none.

Q: Do I have to have a SSL certificate to take online donations?
A:  No, but it highly recommended.  Some merchant providers will require your site be secure to take online transactions, some will not.  Really, it's a no-brainer... you SHOULD get a SSL.  There is no reason to take chances and go without.  Besides, most users of at your website will not donate if they see your site is not secure.  However, if you do not have SSL, you can setup DT Register to only use PayPal.  Then, your users will pay through PayPal's SSL.

Q: Do I have to have DT Donate to use DT Register?
A:  NO! It is a completely separate component.

Q: What other components do I need to use DT Register?
A: You need to have the JEvents calendar component to create your events in.  DT Register gives you the ability to add registration capabilities to the events that are loaded in JEvents.  You do NOT have to use the frontend calendar of JEvents, but certainly can choose to do so.

Q: Can I setup DT Register to automatically process late registration fees?
A: Yes!  In the setup of each registration event, you can provide a date and a late fee to be added after that date.

Q: Will DT Register allow me to set different registration rates for individuals and groups?
A:  Yes! You can have an individual rate and then a group rate that is calculated one of two ways: either a flat rate for a set number of registrants or a discounted individual rate after a set number of people join a group.  When someone goes to register for your event, the first thing they will be asked is if they're registering as an individual or as part of a group. You can also set a limit on how many people can register in a group.

Q: Can I setup an event for registration that is FREE?
A:  YES you can!  Simply enter $0 as the registration fee and all payment options are bypassed in the registration process.

Q: Can I customize emails to be sent to registrants automatically?
A:  Yes!  You can have one default email or specify unique emails for each event. These emails can pull in data from the registration such as name, contact info, amount paid, payment method, etc.

Q:  Can I export my registration records from DT Register?
A:  Yes!  All registration records are viewable in the backend.  You can also export them to a CSV file.

Q: What does the registrant receive after registering?
A: After registering for your event, the registrant will receive a "Thank You" email from you that you can edit in the settings of the component.  They also will receive an email receipt of the credit card transaction.
